Hostilities in the Far East have given Japan an insatiable appetite for serap metal, and much of the business is done through that port.
The 17-year-old San Francisco steamer Fort Armstrong, 3,249 tons, owned by the Charles Nelson Co.,
recently loaded and cleared fur Japan with a Japanese crew On board. The ship was bought by the Atitsu Co. She will be broken up.
There are many cases similar to that of the Fort Armstrong. The ships are brought to Vancouver and loaded with supplies of war. On arrival in Japan both cargoes and Bults are utilised with all speed.

To the cooks he said: "I hope you will spread the love of cooking to your wives, If you have any.
"My own requirements in that re- spect are so exacting that I have never been able to and a wife who comes up to the necessary standard."*

It goea on and on like that, Regular Army cooks had twenty- seven different puddings on display to-day.
There was an "In Town To-night" pudding, made with marmalade and with a dog flying from its crest.
Those puddings were made by Peler Eaton, a boilerman. He cooks for his wife and two daughters on Sundays sometimes.
