The fights for Irun and San Sebastian, likely to produce the greatest battle since the Spanish civil war's commencement, commenced to-day with the occupation by insurgents of positions on the mountain heights over-looking the first named city. A thousand militiamen from Bilbao have arrived at Irun to reinforce the Government forces there, while it is reported that hundreds of foreign volunteers, many of them expert machine-gunners, have arrived at San Sebastian to assist the Government forces in the defence of the city.
