The standing of the parties of Great Britain at 9.15 p.m. to-night, with sixteen results still outstanding, is as follows:
GOVERNMENT, 421; OPPOSITION, 178.
The Government consists of 379 Conservatives, 31 Liberal Nationals, eight National Labourites, two Nationals and one. Independent. The Opposition comprises 153 Labourites, four LL.P. seats, 16 Liberals and four Independent Liberals and one Communist.
Political circles are of the opinion that Mr. Stanley Baldwin, the Prime Minister, will try to find a seat for Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, who was defeated at Seaham. But it cannot be expected that he can find a seat for Mr. Malcolm MacDonald also, and the young Colonial Secretary will step down from office.
