ARMISTICE DAY IN LONDON
KING NOT PRESENT AT CENOTAPH
at
London, Nov. 11.. In viow .of the wenther conditions, it was not considered advisable for the King to attend the Armistice Day ceremony the Cenotaph this morning, and his place was taken by the Duke of York. His Majesty. accom panied by the Queen, left later by irain from King's Cross, en route for Sandringham.
The neighbourhood of the Cenotaph and Westminster Abbay has been thronged with crowds from early afternoon and Inte this evening, and the procession of relatives of those who fell in the Great War, bringing wreaths and flowers, still moved down White- hall past the memorial.
A very large crowd assembled at the Cenotaph for the ceremony of the Two Minutes Silonce, which was observed throughout the country and the Empire. The King's wrenth was laid by the Duke of York, and the Queen and the Duchess of York were present on the balcony of the Home Office. The Prince of Wales represented the King at the ceremony at the Edin- Stone of Remembrance of burgh, and afterwards attended service in St. Giles' Cathedral.
Typical of the golemon celebra- tion of Remembrance Day in every part of the Empire and by British residents In foreign countries were the ceremony at the Cross of Sacrifice at Gibraltar, at which the Governor General, Sir Charles. Harrington, was supported by detachments from the Army, Navy and Air Force, and ceremonini observances of silence before the British Legation at Addis Ababa, where troops forming the Legation Guard were drawn up.

PROWLER FOUND ON ROOF
GETS FIVE-MONTH TERM
Three charges of being found an the roof of a dwelling for an un- lawful purpose and larceny were brought against Wong Hing, aged 23, unemployed, when he appeared before Mr. Schofield at the Central Magistracy this morning. They were (a) being found on the roof 'IIIII" Rond of No. 45, Morrison with unlawful intentions, (b) lar- ceny of one pair of leather shoes from No. 90, Waterloo Road, Kow- loon, on September 7 last, and (e) larceny of a blanket from Belfran Road, Kowloon, on October 4 last.
Detective Sergeant Fitches, pro- | secuting, stated that at noon on Sunday last, the defendant was found on the roof of No. 45, Mor- rison Hill Road, by the rent collec- lor, Yim Fong. In view of the large number of petty thefts from houses in the vicinity of Leighton Hi and Morrison 1 Roads, the owners of these houses had in- structed their rent collectors to keep a watch on the roofs.
