HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V's SILVER JUBILEE.

Appeal On Behalf Of Charities.

On the 6th May next the British Empire is giving thanks and praise that for 25 years His Majesty King George V. has, been preserved to bear the sceptro of sovereignty and maintain the unity of the Empiro. His Majesty's great interest in all, forms of charity is universally recognised and it is known that His Majesty desiros this auspicious occasion, to be in some manner dedicated to assisting charitable objects. It has, therafora, boon decided to collect funds throughout this Colony for charitable purposes, the subscriptions not to oxcoed $1 and humbly to pray His Majesty to nominate the charities in this Colony to which the moneys collected should be devoted.

The Charitable Collection Sub-Committed is providing baxes for the purpose of the collection and all those who - wish to assist in this laudable object are asked to communicate „with the Honourable Dr. R. H. Kotewall, C.M.G., LLD., of China Building, Hongkong, who is representing the Chinese Sub-Committen formed for this purpose or to Mr. S. F. Balfour of the Colonial Secretariat, Hongkong, who will arrange før- collecting boxer to be forwarded.

This appeal is insued by the Silver Jubilee Committee of Hongkong.
