BRITAIN'S SOUND FINANCING

BUDGET INFLUENCE FOR STABILITY

BANKERS GRATIFIED AT CONTROL FUND PROFIT

London, April 15.

Mr. Neville Chamberlain's Budget has failed to arouse any enthusiasm in the City, which considers it. merely typical of sound, conservative, British finance, and as such a step further towards restoring world confidence.

British bankers are gratified to learn that the British Equalisation Fund, or Control Fund, again earned a profit, which was unexpected, in view of the extremely heavy attacks made upon sterling last year, which the Fund had to meet.

It is pointed out that in face of the Continental monetary difficulties and uncertainties, together with the ever-present fears of American financial experi- ments, sterling will tend increasingly to become a refuge of international "panic" capital.
