She stated that on September 19, about pm sho Was returning home from work and was walking along Castle Peak Road, towards Kowloon, in the company of the deceased and her son, Wong Sik-bung, At that time there was a strong wind blowing, and it was raining very hard. On nearing the home of a fellow worker, the three of them crossed the road to borrow a hat. After borrowing the hat, they again crossed to the other side of the road, and when they were about three paces from the pavement all three were knocked down by a car, which had come from the direction of Lalchikok..

Car Examined.

Traffic-Sorgeant Scrimm gave evi- dence of having tested the car, which was a 21 horsepower, 1932 model. It was fitted Morris Isla saloon.

Witness on boing questioned stated that in such circumstances as the accident had happened, ho would not have applied the handbrake.

Mr. V. H. Freeman, the driver of the car, gave evidence in which he stated that je had been loaned to him by Dodwell and Company while his own car was being repaired. He had only had the car for two days. Ho had been driving a car for two years. How Mishap Occurred.

On the day of the accident he was driving along Castle Peak Road to wards Kowloon. car.

At the first glance he thought she was dead, so he immediately. telo phoned the police, but when he went hack to the car, ho found the deccused was still breathing. With the ald of a jack he lifted the cur and lifted her out. Her leg had been caught in the shaft,

He then went and telephoned for an ambulance, and on his return he found that Inspector Shaftain had arrived, Acting under instructions from Inspector Shaftain ho took two of the victims to the hospital, then went to the Shamshuipo Police Station. *.

At the time of the accident it was raining very heavily, but the rain was at the back of him, and he had a very clear view of the road. He was travelling at a speed of 18 miles, an hour.

Further evidence was given by Chong Yum-wing, a 19-year-old stali hawker's assistant, and by Traffic- Sergeant Scrimm.

The Jury retired for a short while and returned with a verdict of death by misadventure, no blame being at. fiched to the driver.
