AGAIN

WITH the quarter-finals of both the English and Scottish Cup competitions being played off on Saturday, Homeside fans will have one of the greatest football feasts of the season greater even than the Cup final to which thousands have already made application, to find that the capacity of the venue has long been filled,

Arsenal have the fates on their side this season and, but for the fuck of the draw, it is hardly likely that they would have continued thus far in competition which they entered so inauspiciously.

The previous rounds enabled thom to sotto down in their stride now and the visit of Aston Villa will not be the obstacle it would have been a month ago. The Villa have been going great guns but I cannot easily imagine a report of their vistory,

Manchostor City are the only Club in this round who survived the distanco last season and they have a great chance of going even further, Stoko have improved considerably lately and took points from Aston Villa in the League last week, but it is unlikely that they will beat the City on their own ground,

It is not so unlikely how. ever, as Northampton's eclipse of Huddersfield at the First Divialoner's pitch in the fourth round.

I wonder if Portsmouth will hold the pace they have been set

į

ting lately. I think they will win despite the bad luck they encoun- tered in the draw. They travel to Bolton and will probably meet with even more exciting than at Swansea.

The

Preston-Leicester is the most difficult to forecast.

Matters are a little easier north of the border where Aberdeen and Albion Rovora sustain the chal- lenge from the Junior divisions. Alblon have a sporting chance, being at home to Motherwell, but the League leaders seem to do better away from home and I expect them to win.
