WIN FOR 12TH BATTERY:

IN R.A. CUP

Assured that it would be a "blood and thunder" match, I wont to Lycmun yesterday to watch the R.A. football cup encounter between the 12th and 9th bat- teries. It turned out that there was no blood, only an' occasional faint gumble of thunder, and quite a lot of good and entertaining football writes "Veritas."

The 12th, after inlasing goldch

opportunities for an hour, succeeded

in anapping two quick goals in the UNLUCKY GUNNERS last ten minutes and thus settled temporarily, aft argument as to the respective footballing abilities of the two arch foes of the sports field.

I say "temporarily" because they have to meet again in the Small Units Legno ns well as the I.A. Cup before the season ends.

Harris Goes Down With Malaria

The Royal Artillery, who are strug. gling to establish themselves in the first division of the Hongkong Foot- ball Lengur this year, have received another not-back.

The light rain which fell through. out the match made ball control extremely difficult, and many a promising movement was spoilt by the spoed of the slippery ball bent-able Ing the man,

The 12th just about deserved their win, although the indecisive Anishing work of both sets of for- wards at one time suggested that a goulless draw would be the reault,

IN THE LIMELIGHT. Several of the Royal Artillery's) local league first and second divi- sion players were on view, and they quite naturally enjoyed the time- light.

Alfan at right back for the 12th played magnificently So well did be cover Wharton his. partner, who was prone to mís kick under pressure, that the 9th forwards seldom got in a really good shot at goal.

Pardee and Rodgers (the latter who is wing half in the senior league team and turned out at cen- tra-half for the 9th) shared the half back honours. Pardoe's long swinging passes were a feature, Rodger stood out clearly for the amount of work he did. Unfortun- ately he had no forwards to carry it through successfully.

Harris, their right half, has gonn down with malaria, and will not be to turn out against the Recreio this week.

The Artillery and Recreio are the only tennis in the division who have not yet obtained a point this season.

The Gunners are hoping to solve part of their forward line problem by bringing in Sergt. Wood at centre forward.
