-A verdict of death due to mis adventure was returned by the to be obtained on application. jury at the conclusion of the in- quiry into the death of a three- Ching-kan, year-old child, Chan who lost his life as the result of fire at Tsun Wan on October 18 last. The inquiry was resunied at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday afternoon, being conducted by Mr. D. M. MacDougall, District Of ficer (South), the jury empanelled consisting of Messrs. R. Stock (foreman), R. Darling and H. Hyndman.

After a short absence, the jury returned the following verdict:

"We find that the deceased Chan Ching-kan, aged three years, died on October 13, 1983, by misadven- ture as the result of burns receiv ed whilst on board ก gampan which was lying adjacent to the oll tanker California which was moored to the Texaco Oil Com- pany's Installation at Tsun Wan.

"No witness hus, stated the origin of the fire and it remains obscure. It was an oil conflagra- tion and the evidence would make possibly It appear that the fre originated on one of the sampans. "The Installation manager was criticised in regard to the delay in informing the Police. It is, therefore, only fair to record that on the evidence, he appears to have acted very well.

"We leave It to the proper nu-i thoritles to consider whether any regulations in regard to danger- ous goods are required beyond those now in force at the instal- Intion."
