THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH. FRIDAY. JUNE 3, 1932.
LEPER WORKERS.
ENTERTAINED BY HONGKONG AUXILIARY
The Hongkong Auxiliary of the Chinese Miaston to Lepers, under the chairmanship of Mr. Li Chor- chi, entertained Rov. T. C. Wu, general' secretary of the Misalon headquarters in Shanghai and Rev. John Lake of the Taf Kam Leper Home, at ten at the St. Francis Hotel on Wodnesday in a welcome to Mr. Wu, who has been inspecting leper work in Kwang- tung Province and a send-off to Mr. Lake, who is sailing by the President Lincoln next week for i . Canada and the United States. Among those pronent were Mr. W. Yinaon Lee, President of the Chinese Mission to Lepers, Mrs. Wong Kwok-nhuen, Mrs, Ma Wing. chan, Rev. Lee Kau-yan, Mr. Teol See-fonti, Mr. Cheung Wing-kue, and Mr. P. Y. Lo.
Mr. W, in thanking the Hong- kong Auxillary for the welcome, briefly touched upon the recent activities of the Chinese Mission to Lepers. He said the 'akbol Leper Home had its land taken away by the local authorities a year ago and the Mission came to Its rescue by purchasing another site for $2,000, and upon which the local committee has erected new buildings,
The Nanchang Leper Home in Kiongsi province was opened Jast year. This was made possible by the Mission' sulmeribing $5,000 to the $6,000 raised locally by the Nanchang Auxiliary, the Masion undertaking to pay annually
another $2,500, being half the east of maintenance. A similar pro- position was made through the Hoihow Chamber of Commerce by the Miaston fer the establishment of
Hainan a Leper Home on Island. I was accepted and con- struction work is in progresa.
Leper Work Progress, Mr. Wu said his présenter in the Colony was due to the fact that Hongkong wan it transhipping centre for the various points he had to visit. He had visited the Tungkun Leper Home and badd answered appeals by calling upon Rev. Winter of the South Ching Boat Mission, at Tsingyuen and friends at Lotien who had a home but no fonds to carry on leper work. In the former case, Mr. Winter was doing admirable work at Tsingyun under dificult ron- ditions.
