SPECIALIST MURDERED. IN
BED-ROOM.
New York, June 2, The discovery this morning of the murdered body of Dr. Georgo E. Deely, in the bed-room of his home in the Columbia Heights Joc- tion of Brooklyn, presented the police with a baffling mystery, on which, because of the prominence of the victim, they are spending un- uoual effort.
Dr. Douly, who is one of the Gregory
best-known eye, ear, and. throat Shots Total Shots Total specialista in the City, was killed during the night without his na sallant disturbing the caretakers, Arthur Linders and his wife, who were sleeping on the fourth storey directly above the physician's bad-

The police state that a heavy rug on the bed-room floor deadened the sounds of the attack. This ta bo- lieved to have come from somebody with whom the doctor was intimate, since he had discarded his falso teeth and eyeginsses and was clad only in his pyjamas and silk dress- ing gown when murdered.
Taken Unawares,
A Corner of Home
From the position of the body, which was near an overturned chair the police assume the doctor was taken unawares by the person with whom he had been conversing. He had a kaife wound on the lower part of the abdomen, but death had been caused by the crushing of the skull with a heavy mahogany orna- mental ball, which the assallant had lifted from the bed poat, using Its Shots Total pin as the handle of a club. The cord of his dressing gown was tied fast around the doctor's throat.

When they tried to awaken him in the morning they received no response. When they discovered that the bed- room door was locked they became alarmed and called the police, who broke open the door.

V.R.C. WIN THREE MATCHES LAST NIGHT.
It was a day out for the V. R. C. yesterday, for their three teams were engaged in last night's water-polo league games, and not content with winning all three matches, none of the the three goalkeepers allowed ball to pass him. As a matter of fact, the performances of the trio of and custodians-Knight, da Rocha Soares were the evening's outstand- ing features.
In tacking the Chinese Athletle, the senior team had its hardest pro- position this menton, as was indicated by the scores, On neveral occasions the Chinen, went dangerously near to scoring but Knight was always in the way of their straight shots, Chun Sik-pal at the other goal was no less pass brilliant, and the two that did him were practically unplayable. The weakness of the Chinese was up for ward.
