Kasumigaura, Aug. 30. Harold Bromley attempted to hop off at dawn to-day on his attempt of a non-stop Pacific flight to Tacoma, but he was unsuccessful in his take-off, because of the weight of gasoline-Router.

BERLIN STATEMENTS.
Berlin, Aug.' 29. In connexion with the Amlinger affair. the Ministry of Defence has issued statements saying that Captain Amlinger left the service a year ago and had not since been connected with the Reichswehr and had not received any in- structions from any Department of the Reichswehr to go to Russia. The affair has renewed the rumour, which has been officially denied, that General Heyes' re signation as Commander-in-Chief of the Reichswehr was due to in trigues by other Generals who favour close military co-operation between Gormany and Russia- Reuter.
