Mr. Northcote, it may be mention- ed, was a cousin of Lord Iddesleigh, his father being a brother of the first Lord Iddesleigh (better known, perhaps, as Sir Stafford Northcote, who was a distinguished member of Lord Salisbury's Administra- tion).
