THE CHICHIBU MARU

THROWN OPEN TO INSPEC.

TION YESTERDAY.

A large number of visitors availed themselves of the opportunity of inspecting the new N. Y. K liner Chichibu Maru yesterday afternoon when the vessel was open for inspec tion, for which special invitations were issued.

Comfort and beauty are the chief points of the of this paintial vessel, which is

arrangements general sister ship of the other two N. Y. K. giant liners, the Asama Mara and the construc-Tatsuta Maru, both of which have been to Hongkong during the Last tion of Steam Launch S.D. 3 as

Freight Charges. Education: Equipment King's College. Freight Charges, $73.

Provision made in estimates $600; provision made by Supple- mentary Vote $293; total $893.

School material consigned to the Education Department in 1929-was found to be damaged and Crown Agents were instructed to have the goods replaced.

The freight for the original con- signment was paid last year from funds specially provided in 1929 Estimates.

In January this year the goods ivere replaced and this Department has been debited with freight charges of £5.12.6 against which no funds are available in 1930 Estimates.

Crown Agents are taking steps to obtain satisfaction from the contractors in England who have, however, so far denied respon- sibility for the damage.

Throughout yesterday afternoon, there was a steady stream of visitors to the boat and tea was served on board. General admiration was ex- pressed for the lingr's many attrac tions which are a tribute to the enter- prise of the N. Y. K.

The Chichibu Maru will be open for inspection again this afternoon, this being for the general public. Cards may be obtained on application at the offices of the N. Y. K.
