I thank Mr. of valuable time he has devoted to Braga for the very large amount the interests of Kowloon and for the many personál conferences ho has been pleased to attend 'which had for their object the ultimate benefit of the community.
The valuable work done during the course of the past year by the Kowloon Residents Association was reviewed in a comprehensive manner by Mr. C. M. Manners, who presided, at the annual meet- ing held at St. Andrew's Church Hall yesterday evening.

We learn through the medium of the Press that a Maternity Ward the will shortly be available in Kowloon Hospital-for the past seven years the K.R.A. have ep- deavoured to convince Government it was imperative that accommo- dation be provided for maternity cases in Kowloon.
We are thankful we shall realise one of our ambitions in the near future and earnestly trust that another of our hopes may be ful- filled in that private medical prac- titioners be allowed to attend at the hospital, more especially in maternity cases.

We have now had a year realise and estimate the benefits derived from. having our own re- presentatives as members on the Legislative Council. Last year, my predecessor, Mr. E. Cock, pledged our assistance to Messrs. Braga and Ts'o and promised to keep them well informed of all our activities should they so desire. My friend, the Hon. Dr. Ts'o, has seen fit to declare publicly that he is not specially representing Kow loon. Personally, I must confess I received this disclaimer with sur. prise. Perhaps Dr. Ta'o, with his Tegal mind. has interpreted H.E. the Governor's nomination of a Chinese representative for Kow-

There was no doubt what- ever in my own mind that the two new membans were appointed to represent the interests of Kowloon, That is the impression generally entertained-an impression that arems to be confirmed by Sir Cecil Clementi's farewell speech to the Legislative Council, on the 23rd January last.
