May Hall was the scene of mach' gaiety on Saturday evening when the students held their annual con- cert and dance. Must Watch Its Step.
Tokyo, Feb.-23.
The Government's overwhelming victory is generally attributed to the unpopularity of the former Seiyukai administration, rather than to its own popularity. At the same time, it is admitted that its success in the economic field. since it came into power last July has given the people con- fidence in the Ministry's ability and sincerity.
It is generally considered, however, that the Government must now modify its financial and economic polletes, if it wishes to retain its popularity, as the drastle campaign of economy and retrenchment has already result-
ed in widespread business de pression and unemployment.

PROPOSED CANCELLATION OF AGREEMENT.
Nanking, Feb. 22,
Madame Carola is a soprano singer of great ability, and gave charming renderings of several wellknown and popular pieces by WOMAN COUNCILLOR. Plenary Session of the Central modern composers. She kept the children greatly amused with some fairy stories which she told.
The piano solos by Mrs. Dinnen were skilfully executed and, although the children were not as appreciative of the pieces as of the funny stories told by Madame Carola, Mrs. Dinnen's contribu- tions were well reecived and the player was enthusiastically ap plauded after each item.
Mr. Longyear assisted by accom panying the singing.
