WONDER YACHT.

THE STELLA POLARIS. IN HONGKONG.

Her white lines gleaming in the morning sunlight, the M.Y. Stella Polaris, which reached Hongkong on Tuesday, was admired by, the whole city as she proudly made her way to Kowloon wharf.

The lovely white steamer seems to typify the dreams of millions In the atmosphore of luxury and wealth, which she radiates. On spotless decks one conjures up visions of untold fortunos and considers that this is just the sort of vacht he would build for him- 'self if only he could, procure the

means to do so.

Contrary to the belief of many. the Stella Polaris was not criein. ally built for some fabulous mil- lionaire and later purchased for pleasure cruises. She was built three yeara ngo for her owner," the B. & N. Company of Norway and was specially designed as a purely tourist ship. The Stella Polaris carries no cargo, with the result that the deck space avail- | able on the comparatively small vessel is greater than that of many large linera,

The brand sun deck just below the bridge is one of the main at tractions of the vessel. Hero on can bask wrapped in rugs when the weather is chilly and take the sea breeze. The view from the sun deck is a magnificent one and it was to this point of vantage that the majority "af"the yacht's passengera flocked when the vessel entered the harbour yesterday.

Few Passengern.

For a tourist ship the "Stella Polaris carries comparatively few passengers. The absolute limit is. 199 persons and this the com- pany will never exceed. One dis- covers the reason for this when one is shown the large and air cabins on the yacht. It is doubt ful if the ordinary first class cabins on any other vessol in the world are as big as those of thus Stella Polaris, Most of them have private bathrooms, but those which are not Bo equipped де served by a bathroom. to every three staterooms. Hence there in little

or no waiting for a bath aboard this ship.

At present the Stella Polaris is carrying 70 passengers on a Far Eastern tour. Among the travel lers is Mr. E. Phillips Oppenheim. the famous novelist who is enjoy ing a pleasure trip.

Joyous Voyage.

The happy nature of the passen- gers is indiented by the number of social functions which take place on board every day. Dane. ing is extremely popular on the wide deck at the stern, while an active aports committee has ranged all the deck games known to mankind.

ar-

The saloon of the vessel is a very large one, capable of seating 218 people. It runs the width of ship and occupies the whole ümid- ships of one of the lower decks. Every night a band plays through- out dinner, after which the ship's jazz band is available for dance music. In the smoke room a atrict masculine. effect has been studied throughout, with the re-
