Another matter which is dealt with by this Bill is the bringing in under one central incorporated body all the principal business functions which are at present vested in the Church Body or all the Churches of Englund in this Colony and also to provide for each Church of England in this Colony a Church Council to manage its domestic affairs. This Bill, by clause 3, appoints a body of Trustees who consist of the parties this Bill there is vested in these Trustees various properties, funds and endowments belonging to the Church of England in this Colony, By clause 5 of this Bill these Trustees are incorporated by the name of the Trustees of the Church of England in the Diocese of same clause they are given the usual Victoria, Hongkong, and by that powers of incorporated bodies to acquire property, to dispose of pro- perty and to, use a common seal,

I do not think, Sir, that I need say anything further with regard to the general principles of this Bill. As regards the details of the B, I think they are sufficiently explained in the Objects and Ren- sons attached to the Bill and at the end of these Objects and Reasons, hos, anembers will see a table of correspondence between these see times of this 1929 Ordinance and the Ordinances of 1899 and 1904. beg to move the first reading.

CASE

RE-STARTED:

SEQUEL TO ARMED ROBBERY AT MA TAU KOK.

An aged cattle dealer, living at Ma Tau Kok, together with other occupants of his household were the victims of an attempted armed robbery which was committed dur ing the boginning of November by four men, who, following their arrest, were produced before the Kowloon Magistrate,

against the four men, two of whom Yesterday afternoon the caso were represented by Mr. Arthur Covey, was heard by Mr.Whyte Smith. The proceedings had been

the bearing yesterday was re- commenced.

Detective Inspector Fallon briefly detailed the facts of the case to his Worship. He said that a. cattle the complainant was dealer and on the night in ques- tion, while he was talking to two knocked at the door and, on being inmates of the house, four men admitted, intimated that they wanted to search the premises. One of the occupants held his hands above his head in submis- sion to the request but the old cattle dealer objected and point- ed out that, not being accom- panied by a European Inspector, the men could not be allowed to carry out their search.

As soon as the men found that they were being opposed, one of them produced a revolver with which he threatened the inmates. Disregarding the weapon, the old man raised the alarm and caused the intruders, to take fight. They were chased and the first defen- dant Jens overtaken. He WDA caught by the inmates of the house and handed over to Inspector Philips, who happened to be passing.
