After the annual report' and statement of, accounts, which have already been published in these columns, had been adopted, the chairman was re-elected as Pro- sident. In returning thanks, he said he felt it a great honour to be elected again to that office. He thanked the members, of the com- mittes for giving him every pos- sible assistance during the past year and he believed he could say that he had also given them all the assistance he could. He referred particularly to the work of Mr. 3., C. Feltham, secretary, and the chairman, Mr. H. A. Rodgers, Every member, he added, had behaved manfully and it was very unfortunate that they had sustain ed a financial loss last year.

Mr. Hall asked where was the evidence that the dog had been allowed one without a muzzle! Ha pointed out that the animal might have had a muzzle on when lot out but the muzzle-might have dropped off in the street.
His Worship said that that left a strong onus on the defendant.
Mr. Hall disagreed and replied that it was for the prosecution to prove their case first.
His Worship remarked that in the case of a dog it was quite clear that simply leaving a gate or a door open was allowing it out.
The chairman continued that he thought the loss was compensated Mr. Häll agreed that it would be for by the amount of relief they proof of allowing the dog out but had rendered to friends who re-intimated that it would not be prosl quired it. when they should consider whether the Club had, fulfilled its function Mr. Feltham explained that ap- and should finish, or whether it should continue with a loss. They could not expect it to go on for ever because of the membership limitation.
Mr. Feltham said the question of closing down had been consider ed, but that was the closing down of the Club and not the Association. It was the former.on which they last, but there was no reason why the Association should not con- tinue.
The chairman said the matter had been voiced in committee, and It was felt that they could go on for some time yet before they found It necessary to close down or make any alterations. As far as the Association was concerned, he said he did not "think there was any need to close it down because that could always render assistance when called for.

Mr. Shaw pointed out that the sum collected from that source in a previous year was $1,870, while last year it was only $150.
The chairman said it was pos sible that they would be in a better position this year,
Mr. Shaw, in making it clear He was not "chewing the fat" but was making suggestions, said that if they were running a sweep on the Hongkong Derby it was time that the tickets were out, and the chair- man said that the incoming com- mittee would see to that matter.
