The Minister of Transport has made the following announcement: The Miniator of Transport has made an Order, dated 9th August 1928, entitled "The Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1928," which comes into force on 1st Octobor next

The Order ravises the speeds at which heavy motor cars (10, motor cars. oxceeding 2 tona in weight, unladen) may be driven upon the public roads.

In the case of a heavy motor car fitted entirely with pnoumatle tyres, such na the modern motor coach, the legal permissible speed is fixed by the Order at 20 m.p.h.. instead of 12 m.p.b., as at present.

The maximum speed of a heavy motor car drawing a trailer, if both vehicles are fitted entirely with tyres of soft or resilient material (though not pneumatic), is fixed at 8 m.p.h.

Otherwise, the maximum speeds of heavy motor cars and of hoavy mobor cars drawing trailers ro- main unaltered.

The maximum speeds of heavy motor cars, after the Order comes into force on October 1st, may bo set out in tabular form as follows:
