MISS MARY PICKFORD'S OBJECTIONS.
New York, July 9,
A decision of outstanding value to film "stars" in their war with the producers, and of no loss value to the public, has been given by the Federal Trade Commission against the Famous Players Lasky Corporation.

LABOUR QUESTIONS IN THE COMMONS.
The House of Commons in mail week went into Committee of Supply, and on a vote of £117,673 for the salaries and expenses of the Foreign Office, Mr. Ponsonby moved a reduction of the vote by £100 in order to raise a debate on the question of disarmament, and The decision is aimed at "un- for a general survey of the present fair methods of competition." Inasmuch as it does not require the organisation to divest itself of the houses it now owns, the decision is regarded by the Famous Players as only a partial defent.

TREASURE FROM ART GALLERY.
A BOTTICELLI LEFT 50 YEARS AGO.
Berlin, July 8. Under the Treaty of Versailles the Berlin Galleries have already had to surrender various works of art to claimants in Belgium and other countries.
The Kaiser Friedrich museum, where most of Berlin's art trea- sures are on view, is now menaced with the loss of another of its cherished possessions.
A claim is being put forward by the Raczynski family of Posen for Botticelli's "Madonna and Child," a picture which has been hanging in the Berlin Gallery for half a century.
It seems that in the first half of The nineteenth century Count Ath. anasius Raczynski, to please" the then King of Prussia, brought his famous collection of pictures to the Prussian capital.
CATCHING A ROBRER CRAB.
INGENIOUS RUSE OF EAST
INDIAN NATIVES.
Amongst an exceedingly in- teresting collection of animals brought home by Mr. Walter Goodfellow from the Malay Archipelago, and now on deposit at the London Zoological Gardens, is a robber crab.
This fearsome creature med. sures over a foot across the claws, which are, capable of breaking open the hard shells of the coenanuts upon which it feeds.. It lives in a burrow in the ground, which it excavates for itself. When it is hungry it creeps out and climbs the nearest coconut tree in search of food. The ripe nuts are clipped off and fibrous covering is removed by the two large pair of claws. Then the soft "eye" of the nut is gouged out by one of the pointed feet, and afterwards the hard shell is removed piece-meal by the Thirty years later this ground large claws which are again call- was requisitioned by the Governed into action.
