CHINA COAST MARINE GUILDS

INDO-CHINA CO.'S POSITION.
四拜禮,號十月六英港香
Strong criticism of the China Coast marine güilds was made by the Hon. Mr. D. G. M. Bernard ́at to-day's annual meeting of shareholders of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., in referring to the recent wages dispute affecting the Company's floating staf
a
Tabulated figures were given showing the exact sacrifices which the men would have had to make under the Company's pro- posals, and Mr. Bernard commented on what he described as the abrupt and unpleasant manner in which matters were brought to a conclusion when a pistol was held at the Company's head by the threat of an immediate strike.
The point was also mentioned that the resolution in favour
of a strike was passed by a meeting of Guild members employed by various companies, whereas, in the opinion of the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co., it was purely a matter concerning that particular Company's employees.
