AN INDIAN IN TROUBLE. Charged with making a false accusation against a Subadar, well-knowing the same to be false, Havildar Sher Muhammad, of the 1st Hongkong Singapore Pack Battery, Royal Artillery, ap- peared before a Court Marțial as- sembled at: Victoria Barracks yesterday.

It was alleged that after being informed that he had been offer- ed promotion as a Salutri Havil- dar, he went to Sergeant Raymond Victor Manley and told the latter' that Subadar Piran Ditta had ask- ed for $100 as a condition for put- ting in a word of recommendation for this promotion.

The accused was defended by Mr. Somerset Fitzroy, who, put in

a plea of not guilty.

The trial is proceeding to-day.
