THE MOSUL DECISIÓN.
London, December 17. Apart from relief that the problem has been settled, subject to Turkey's acceptance, very little enthusiasm is shown over the Lea- gue's Mosul decision. There is an absence of comment in the Daily Telegraph. The only papers which are in any way favourable are the Times and Morning Post. The former says the time has come to look forward and to make a vigorous effort to establish intimate contact with the new Turkey. This cannot be done in superficial conversations at an hotel on the shores of some Swiss lake. The paper suggests sending a wise Englishman, familiar with the East, to Angora!
The remainder of the newspapers are hostile on the ground of the expense to the British taxpayer and the possibility of eventual conflict with Turkey. Cold comfort is drawn from the reflection that the responsibility terminates when Iraq is admitted to the League. It is generally agreed that General Laidoner's report on the Turkish atrocities weighed heavily in the Council's deliberations and con- tributed to a unanimous decision.-Router,

London, December 17. Hayley Morriss' wife has been found guilty.-Renter,

Hayley Morrias was sentenced to two years, with hard labour, for offences against girls under sixteen, twelve months, without hard labour, on other counts and ordered to pay a sunt not exceeding £1,000 toward the costs of the prosecution, the sentences to run consecutively.
