Painleve in regard to the French debt to Amerion, and that it was agreed that it would be advantageous to resumo negotiations for a settlement as soon as possible. Le Matin believes that these negotiations will not take account of the temporary agreement reached with M. THE PERSIAN REPUBLIC.

The deposed Shah of Persia has been in southern Europe for the past two years, ostensibly for his health, but the reason was really that he was in exile as a result of intrigues against the throne by Rizahkan, an ex-Cossack private who rose to the grade of colonel, and who headed a coup d'etat in February 1921 which overthrew the government.
