Reuter is authoritatively informed that Wu Pei-fu this morning wis limehing a heavy attack on the Shanhaikuan front endeavour- ing to turn the Fengtien tank. Wa Pei-tu is apparently determined in bring about a quick and final decision there by an attack rather of than by an attempt to retreat. His men are evideatly revent events at Peking, and their in rule is described as excellent.

He recommended the deportation of Wu Pel-fu and announced the con- struction of a callway between Bungliang and Avhol,---Reuter.

New York, Oct. 25, The publication of Press figures showing the ainount of income tax paid by some multi-millionaires following upon the enactment permitting pubife inspection of Government income tax records for! the purpose of prevention of tax dodging, has caused a controversy throughinal the nation regarding the merits of such a law. Some papers. publish details of the amount paid but others do not publish details in consequence of a warning by the Department of Justice that the publishers of individual figures are able to pro- secution. The highest figure published excreds seven million dollars paid by a millionaire's son,--Renter's American Service.
