Lord Curzon at Leicester said copies of the Zinovieff letter were handed to Mr. Macdonald and Mr. Henderson when they reached England a month agn. The letter came into the hands of a
Government's paper, otherwise we should never have heard the reply to "the most wicked, the most pernicious, the most detestable, the most damnable document ever printed." The amazing thing was that it has been reserved to Mr. Macdonald to make the exposure himself.
Mr. Macdonald in a speech at Swansea did not refer to the Zinovieff ecrrespondence. Interviewed later, he said the time was not ripe for a statement thereanent. He would probably deal with it in his speechest.
Mr. Clynes at Northampton said the document, if authentic, would imperil arrangements with Russia, but there was nothing new in the organisation of political bombshells on the eve of an election.
