The Banque Industrielle de Chine hearing has been resumed. Counsel addressing the court on behalf of Andre Berthelot recalled that the original report of the expert doyen concluded that the profits figuring in the bank's balance sheet at the end of December, 1919, did not exceed what could justifiably be considered as real profits. Despite the doyens conclusions Berthelot was charged on October 13, 1921, three days before the reopening of parliament. Thereafter the case assumed a political character, Berthelot and his companions being made victims of a political campaign,
