FASHIONS FOR THE
BALLROOM.
Although ons meets a great many beautiful fabrics destined for the fashioning of ball gowns, simplicity is the note that is; aimed at by the majority of debutantes.
Crepe dresses that still adbere to the high decolletage and bare- armed fashions continue to hold' their own, and, for the moment at all events, all superfluities in tha¦ form of elaborate trimmings, coiffure ornaments 02 much jewellery is tabooed.
Though big feather ians are re- turning to favour, these are mostly reserved for use as big formal balls that call for a "grand toilette." For the pleasant little in-between | dances dri85 cannot be too informal.
For the moment, at all events, the high-strapped and ribbon- gartend shoe has completely dis- i appeared, as have also those of bright jazz brocade. Elegantly cut court slippers made of salin to match one's gown are the most fashionable, with the toss am [broidered in the finest silk to simulate handsome brocaded effects.
In the same war, ribbon head- dresses have also disappeared.
