The ships which were launched in GermaDY during last year amounted to 219, with the total tonnage of 500,000. ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN SHIP. There has recently taken place in America & trial run of the Victorides, a steamer fitted with the electric drive. Her power ia - provided by Todd oil fasl barners and the contract speed is 10 knots, though during her trials a speed of 11.6 knots was obtained. One of the outstanding features of the trials was the marked ability stop," -The propeller was reversed from foll speed of 100 revolutions

A similar vessel with reciprocating engine drive would require about six minutes to do the same fast.
