MINING IN RAICHOW. Mining in Esichow is rendered important by the presence of several crystal deposits in the western regions of Tunghai. As- bestos and Talc are also found in good quantities. A company is reported in process of organiza-| tion for the operation of these mines. Gold is mined in the re- gions of "Yu Sban” or Ya Mountains, which traverse the two districts of Tunghai sod Kanya. Sand-gold is also found țin these regions. Capital is now belog raised to work this mineral The discovery of Calcium Phos- pbate, which is hardly found ic Europe, America or Japan, was recently reported. The nae of this mineral is extensive and it is macb in demand in agriculture and, industry. The output is usually sent to Tsingtao for dis posal. According to the Customs Return for 1920, no fewer than 230.327 picals were transported to Tsingtao, whence only 143,325 picols were exported. The Arst half year of 1921 shows the record Eure of 265,289 riculs sent to Tsingtao. Great developments are expected. Silver occurs in the Hsiehow regions. There do several very rich veins. The local marchants are reported to be inviting several mining experts to investigate the fields in order to ascertain the value of the deposits. Following their report development schemes will be formulated.
