The Dutch East Indian Govern ment has resolved to take in hand the urgent task of extension and improvement, need for which has long bean fall, of the harbours of East Java Recognizing that it has been the lack of funds which has hitherto prevented the execution of this work, the authorities at , Batavia bave decided on the levy of a special tax in the different harbours concerned in the scheme.
