Mrs. Hamilton Gets Within 3 Miles.

Mrs. Artbur Hamilton failed last month in her attempt to swim the Chancel, but set up a new record in women by struggling against the cross-currents for just Ter 20 hours, and getting with- in three miles of her goal.
Starting from Cape Grisnez, on the French side, at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning, she within three miles of Deal when she left the water, shortly after 7 o'clock next morning.
WAR
This is Mrs. Hamilton's second attempt. Last September starting from St. Margaret's Bay. she swam to within nine miles of the French coast in 12 houre.
Previous Channel records by women swimmers have been those" of Mme. Walburgs von Isacescu, an Austrian school teacher, who in 1900 covered 20 miles in 10 hours 20 minutes, and Mrs. Hilda Willing, of Rochester, who last September covered nearly 30 miles in 10 hours 35 minutes.
