A monument has just heen erected on the Victoria embankment, in memory of the gallant soldiers who fought and died in Africs during the world war. Although little was heard of these brave men, many advances were made through desert land and this statue of a camel warrior is most appro priate. On the base of the statue are the names of the engage- raents the silent fighters took part in. Lieut. Gen. Sir Philip Chetwode officiated at the unveiling of the monument.
BREAKS WORLD RECORD.
Gourdin, of Harvard, is shown breaking the world's running broad jump record. The Harvard star jumped a distance of 25 feet 3 inches.
THE UNVEILING OF KING EDWARD'S MEMORIAL.
King George, accompanied by Quesa Mary, unveiled the equestrian statue of King Edward VII, which has been erected in Waterloo Place, Westminster, the ceremony being sttended by a large and distinguished gathering.
