Until the Chapei company is in a position to supply electricity to consumers in the district through which the Mili- tary Road runs, factories south of Jukong Jao may obtain their supply of electricity from the Electricity Department of the International Settlement, but payment for the electricity con- (sumed mast be made to the Chapei Electricity company for transmission to the Electricity Department.
ELECTRICAL EXPANSION IN JAPAN. Competition between alectric companies for ebartered areas of supply is intensifying. While the Daido Electric Company is weighing a plan to increase its business of power supply through the electrification of the present locomotive railway-system in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe district, the Ujikawa Hydro-electric Company bas in view the supplementing of new demand arising, as it ex- pects, from the town planning schemes and the extension of surbarban tramways. For an- other instance, while Mr. Fuku- zawa Momosake, President of the Nagoya Electric Light Com- pany, and his party, bave amal- gamated the Kwansai Hydro-elac- tric Company and control the rights to supply the plain of Yamato province, the Ejikawa company has had Stiga Pre- fecture under its control, by unifying the Omi Hydro-electric Company. These two companies are making steady provision for extending. their influence Wakayama Prefecture and Chagoku distric. Taking the situation seriously, the Wakayama Hydro-electric Company is doing all in its power to obstruct the.. invasion of their companies, while deciding informally to increase its capital and extend the amount of its supply.
