Provided, however, that this cancellation will not apply to bales of the above-mentioned grades which are open for re- classification under section 1794 of the Administrative Code, and to low grade loose stocks strip- vad previous to September 1 | 1921; Provided, further, that the owner of such loose stocka shall submit 230 affidavit to authorized agent of the Director of Agriculture prior to September 1. 1921, stating the Damber of piculs of such fiber which he has in stock and notify the fibre inspector when a sale or transfer of ownership is made of the declared stocks"-The demand from Chins and Japan for sugar has eased off slightly, and market is rather quieter. The decline of prices in Java and less favourablé news from the U.S. have also tended to make bayers hold off pending further developments- The copra market is steady.— The coal,market in steady. The embargo on exports of coal from Australia has been considerably modified by the Commonwealth Government and it is consequent- ly possible that Australian-coal will again be imported into this market. This question will, how- ever. depend upon prices and freight rates, which are still bigh, as compared with Japanese così. Arrivals during the fortnight were 12,630 tons from Japso for commercial purposes-During the fortnight, the rice market has ruledsteady.—Advices from America received on 12th inst. (announced that their floor market was very firm, and that China and Japan are beavy buyers. Locally, demand is dull and dealers are afraid to purchase in large quantities, for forward,ship- meat.
