SINO-SCANDINAVIAN BANK, The Chinese Government bas granted a special charter to the Sino-Scandinavian Bank, which has a nominal capital of $10,000.- 1000, with a minimum paid-up capital of $3,500,000. The Chi nese shares have been subscribed. The bank has been given the right to issue paper eurrancy. Mr. Chiang Tien-yao, ex-Minister of Commerce, is the President, and Mr. Harold Skap- pel, a Norwegian, Vice-President of the Bank. The principal abare- holders are Mr. Chi Wel-hsin, a Shanghai cotton-mill owner, Mr. Chan Chung-mei, President of the Canton Bank, and many in- fluential persons in the Govern- ment service.

DAY AND NIGHT" BANK. Among the many HOW companies recently formed in Shanghai ia a concern described a the Shanghai Day and Night Bank. The new bank, a feature of which is that business will be carried on until 12 midnight, is installed in premises in Aveaue Edward VII, opposite the Great World, the managing director of which is also one of the directors of the bank. Other directors are: -Hsu Kuo-liang, chief of the Shanghai-Woosung Constabul
