The Hunanese Railway Ar- sociation has petitioned the Government for the administra- tion of the section of the Cantan- Hankow line which which is being commenced between Chuchow and Hengehow." The Paking- Railway Administration proposes the expansion of the Nankow Works. Now that the line to Sui- yuan has been completed, repair- ing shops for locomotives, wag- goas, and carriages, electricity power house, machine shops, and stores will be enlarged to meet the increased needs of the railway. The establishment of similar works at Tatung and Suigusa and warahoussa at various other point is also under consideration. Alltheroads have been finished at Nantungchow except the Tu Si and Pai Pu roads.

COTTON IMPROVEMENT. The laying out of cotton ex- perimental stations in the pro- vinces of Chins is proceeding. The station in Kiangsu covers au ares of 480 mow and further ex- pansion is expected in the sotuma. At Chenchow, Honau, & pieco of ground covering 230 mow is devoted to this purpose. Mr. Sun En-ling M.A. is to nadertake an investigation later in the yesvin connection with the movement; and. if necessary, he will give de- monstrations on modern cultiva- tion and fertilization methods. The number of Cotton-growing Experimental Stations in Chibli is to be increased to ten. They will be laid out in the following localities: Yenkingchow, King- chow. Kinchow, W. Ningobsien.. Fengjun, Lwanchw, Trangchow, Tinghing. Eucheng and Tsung- hwachow.
