ICE HOUSE STREET.

Important Rebuilding Scheme.

Not the least important of the schemes for the improvement of the office accommodation in the City is that which affects lee House Street, from Queen's Road to Des Voeux Road. It has been known for some time that an improvement was contemplated, but it is now ascertained that the street is to be widened by ton feet and that the present build- ings are all doomed to give place to modern, commodious office books.

To obviate the inconvenienca that would be caused by under- taking the whole of the work at once a scheme of gradual cons-- truction has been decided on. A start will shortly be made on the building lately occupied by Mesere. Moxon and Taylor, following which the site of the American Express Building will be treated. The third section, leased at present to the Netherlands India Bank and facing Des Voeux Road will be! the last to be treated and it is stated that on this site Hongkongi will possibly have its first "-ky-" scraper"-aneight-storeyed build-

ing.

The full completion of the scheme is expected to take three years.

IF YOU WEAR TORICS,

If you know you have the best. you do not, you have not yetj done the best you can to give your eyes comfort. It is possible to correct the vision of eyes that need glasses without using Toric lenses. It would also be possible to use a motor car without pneu- matic tyres, but it would not be comfortable. If you have failed; to find real eye comfort, try a pair of Torics, their deep inner) curve conforms to the naturali motions of your eye. Toric lenses) of any prescriptions are manu- factured by the Hongkong Opti- cal Co, Successors to Clark & Co., Manufacturing and Refracting Opticians, located in 53, Queen's Road Central.
