SHIP ARRIVES IN NEW YORK FLYING GERMAN FLAG.
The sight of a German flag coming into New York Harbour was 30 strange that it evoked great interest and some troops threatened to haul it down. It was flown by the new freighter Sophie Rickmers. Her arrival in the United States signalized the resumption of trade with Germany. The flag had not been previously seen on a ship in New York Harbour since the United States went into the war.
