TRAGEDY OF A GENIUS.

"W. N. P.BARBELLION " PASSES AWAY.

Since the publication in the spring of that poignant and bril liant book, The Journal of a. Disappointed Man," the identity of its author, "W. N. P. Barbel- lion," has been a much-discussed mystery. The secret has been well kept, and probably not more than half-a-dozen people outside the author's own family know was Mr. Bruce Fredrick Cum that "Barbellion's" real name mings, a young man of 31, and the victim of an incurable form of-paralysis.

Recently "Barbellion's" long and terrible illness came to an end. For weeks he had lain in his cottage at Gerrard's Cross, Santoo weak even to move his head, hoping and waiting for death. The vigorous mentality which marked his literary style remaia- d with him to the end.
