UNION INSURANCE SOCIETY OF CANTON, LTD.
The report for presentation to the shareholders at the forty-sixth ordinary meeting of the Union Insurance Society of Canton Ltd. to be held at noon on Thursday, 2nd May, 1919, states:
The Board has now to lay before the Shareholders a Balance Sheat containing a summary of the property and hisbilities of the Society on the 31st December, 1918, and a statement of Working Abeounts together with the sterling equivalents.
1917 AccountAfter payment of the interim dividend of $30 per share and the bonus of 90% to Contributors passed at the last annual mesting thers remains a balance of $3,313,645.96 as per annexed state- mont.
The Board recommends that this sum be appropriated as
follows:-
A final dividend to hareholders of $90 per share
on 18,000 shares

With the artival in Manila yesterday of 50 Chinese athletes from Shanghai, and with the arrival to-morrow `of 20 from Japan, all contestants will be ready for the opening of the Far Eastern Olympic Games. The track and field meet will begin Monday, May 12 and the finals will be held on Wednesday after- noon, May 14. The first of the series of baseball games will be played to-morrow afternoon, and the schedule includes a game daily until May 18. The tennis matches are scheduled to take
place from May 12 to 17; soccer football. May 12, 14 and 15, and swimming May 13 and 14. ....... :
