GERMAN LOSS OF AEROPLANES.
London Doc. S.
Some light is thrown upon what the surrender of 2,000 `Geriuan "aeroplanes under the armistice means to the Ger- mans ny the following official British figures of the air fight- ing upon the British West Front from January 1st, to the date of the armistice. The enemy machines destroyed' in aerial combat by the British were 3060, enemy machines driver down uncontrolled 1,174. British machines reported wissing 1,515. Thus, without counting the beavy air losses inflicted upon the enemy by the formidable. French and American Air Services, Germany is known to have lost well over six thousand aeroplanes destroyed and surrendered during 1919. - On the contrary the resources of the Allies, who suffered far fewer air casualties, are being reinforced by two thousand German machines of modern type in good condition. This indicates the overwhelming superiority the Allies now enjoy in the air.
A FRESH GERMAN ATROCITY,
Paris, Dec. 8. Enquiry by delegates of the Spanish Embassy in Berlin "has confirmed that German guards at the camp at Laugen- salze unjustifiably shot nide and, severely wounded fifteen, French prisoners who were eagerly awaiting release. An exhaustive enquiry will be held immediately. The French" Government is determined to punish this new atrocity.
REPATRIATION OF FRENCH PRISONERS.
Paris, Dec. IL
A French commission is dealing with the repatriation of French war prisoners in the camp at Langensalze, who are awaiting releas.
FOOD CONTROL TO CONTINUE,
London, Dec. $.
The Food Controller, Mr. J. R. Clynes, in a letter says the world's lood supply must still for a time give ground tor annety. The enemy has stripped many occupied pro- rinces of food supplies and means of food production. In large territories in Europe there is danger of famine this winter. The Food Ministry has already abolished some minor and
troublesome restrictions, And ke hopes it will very soon" be "possible to abandon further restrictions of this kind: but it will clearly be necessary, at least during the winter and spring, to continue the main safeguards for just and equal distribution of lood suppjjes,

DANGERS OF BOLSHEVISM.
London, Dec. 8.
Keuter has interviewed M. Oudendyk, Dutch Minister at Petrograd, who arrived in London via Germany. He warms the workmen of all nations against Bolshevism, which "will end civilisation. Translated in practice, the Bolshevism principles are high wages, don't work, take The other's property without penishment, no taxation Russian workers are far worse off than ever before. The state of unemployment is terrible in Petrograd. The situs tion is one of utter exhaustion. The people do not know. how they will exist next day. I have never dreamt of such corruption and tyraniny. The advance of all semblance to freedom in the future to me seems hopeless. Wherever Bolshevism rules the nation is beaten to pulp and utterly helpless"?
THE P. & O. COMPANY.
London, Dec. 11.-. At a meeting of the P. and O. Company, Zord Inshospe, preeding, asid that the liabilities were £5,822,663, including a considerable sum to meet the increased cost of building. The Company would as speedily as possible resume their position in the Eastern, Far Eastern and Australian trades, but with so many ships sunk it would be some time before they would be able to offer the travelling public the con- venience, comfort, and regularity to which they had been...” accustomed before the war,
