bis flag in the King Edward VIL, took the Atlantic Fleet in 1935, Sir William May is new-engaged on work at the Admiralty of which the effect will be seen when the war is at au end. The commander of the Ramillies in those Mediterranean days was Admiral Sir John Jellicoe, that master of fleste and of men, who has filled nearly every important appointment in the Admiralty, a Lord of the Admiralty in each position held by a fag officer, and who exercised duties of supreme importance in command of the Grand Fleet. Both in that position, by his qualities of command, and as First ses Lord' by his masterly direction, the safety of the country and of the Allies largely depended upon him Very remarkable officers were among the lieutenants of the Remillies with Sir William May. The flag-lieutenant was that now Sir Hugh Evan-Thomas, who well-known officer, Vice Admiral played so fine a part in the Jutland Battle. The torpedo lieutenant was the present Vios Admiral Sir Leopold Heath, now s Lord of the Admiralty, Two officers who hold important com- mands, which cannot be parti cularised, wars lieutenants of the Ramilies in the Mediterranean Rear Admiral Arthur C. Leveson and Rear Admiral Alexander Sin clair. Still another of the ship's Lieutenants was the recent chief of the Royal Naval Air Service, Commodore Bir Godfrey Faine, who now as a major zeneral is a member of the Air Council, newly consituted, as Director-General: 7 of the Fersonnel of the Eyal Air Force. Never surely was there such a brilliant galizy of paval talent, so trus a fount of the naval spirit, as existed in the Ramilies in the Mediterranean when Bir Michael Culme-Seymour was in command. We see, to, how the naval service has changed since Dr Johnson wrote his lugubrious refection after a sojourn on board's the older Ramilites
