THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1917.

A PATRIOTIC CALL.

THE HONGKONG STEEL FOUNDRY COMPANY, LIMITED.

PROSPECTUS

Inviting public.subscription for 85,000 shares at par ($10 each), upon an increase of the Capital of the Company.

Tis desired and a” resolution for that purpose has been purred, to increase the Capital of the Company to $1,000,000 by the isine of new shares, for the purpose of extending the business which is firmly believed will, if so extended, not only prove exceedingly problable to all interested in the Company, but will also supply a want to local conceros.

The Capital of the Company is now $1,000,000 of which only $78,080 has been paid up and, on this the Company last year made a net profit of $19,817 and paid a dividend of 19 per cent at the end of the present financial year. It is anticipated that doubling the Capit will at least treble the profit; andi should this anticipation be malized, the Company could pay at least a steady Twenty per cent.

Steel Castinga see needed for numerous purposes by alt Railway contractor. Engineering and Dock Companies, everywhere in China. and by many small manufacturers. At present large portion of the Steel products which this Gompany is able to manufacture is obtained from abroad-at probably a great exprusetin conseqience of the very limited espacity of thas Company to carry out orders received. With an increased Capital, enabling more furnaces to be erected, and more labour employed, this Company would then be in a position to supply most of, if not all, the needs for steel castings in this part of the world; for, with the experience now apquiredby the General Managers. and by, their present head workmen, there should be no dibiechy whatsoover in most satisfactorily fulfilling such requirements.

It is much desired that suficient additional capital be subscribed, beyond that which is required lost the further development of the Meri Casting department, in order to enable a plant to be obtained, and set up, for the purpose of rolling Steel ingats into material for Engineer. ing, Duck, and Building requirements ; for which material there is nuw a great demand.

It is therefore trusted that many persons in the Culony will be found ready to subscribe towards the increased caputal desired, both for their own benefit, and for that of the community generally.

The General Managers are ready and willing to enter into any reasonable, agreement desired by the Company to continge their services for a lengthy period. Also, if desired by the Company, they are fully prepared to transfer the control to à Board of Diretor, comprised of such persons who are in a position to introduce business, as the Company thinks advisatie.

The minimum subscription for Ühe new shares now offered to the public, upon which the tieneral Managers may proceed" to allotment, is $200,000,
