The report of the Oceanic Steam **Navigation Company (White Star Line) for last year shows a profit of £2,402,758, after providing for deferred repairs and contingent liabilities, including excess profits taxation, and add- ing interest, on investments and transfer fees. The profit repre- sents an increase of £434.473 on that for 1915, which was more than double that for 1914. To the profit of 1916 there has to be added £156,766 brought forward; and after: deducting debenture interest; directors fees, income- tax, and depreciation, transferr- ing £250,000 to general reserve, *£350,000 to the general purorses fund, making a donation of £10,- 000 to the staff superannuation fund, there remains at the credit) of profit and loss £1,050,636."
