October 12, 4.45 am. According to Reuter's correspondent at Copenhagen, yesterday a submarine, believed to be British, sank a German collier off Osland. The submarine also shelled and forced the German ore steamer Germania to run ashore. The crew of both vessels were saved.
RUSSIAN ARTILLERY DEVELOPS A MURDEROUS FIRE.
October 12, 5.55 a.m. A Petrograd communique says that the Russians northwest and south-west of Dwinsk, attacking the Germans whom they dislodged from villages and trenches, pursued the enemy and occupied a fresh lice. There is fierce fighting on both sides of the Kovel-Saray railway, the Russian artillery developing a murderous fire. The Russians occupied the enemy's third line of trenches on the left: bank of the Styr, below Kolki. Eight enemy coupler-attacks weet of Darojno were repulsed.
