Freight. -Honkis. Wheelock & Co.'s re port for the fortnight ended Sep- tember 30, states-Our home- ward freight market to Europe has continued fairly active during the past fortnight; there has been m fair demand for space for cereals and for certain ports on the con

inent the demand is greater than

the sapply, particularly for Mr- seilles and Canoo. The Baukow derson is drawing to a close and it is not likely that any more hoste will give direct loading this sex- on. Across the Pacifis the berth has been rather quiet, wot so much. that there is no business doing at that absenos of shipping facilities, owing to the withdrawal of the Pasific mail ateamers from the** rao, naturally tends to decrease the volume of trade that coul otherwise be dealt in. Oost- wise:The past fortnight has been a quiet one on the const but there is a firmer tone in the tna kat at the close and raton are likely to harden with the approach of the satama trade from the no thern ports. The Hongkong market is rather weak and rates are down for the time being bdt the lall is expected to be only temporary. For London and the Continent:-The following are the next cargo bouts on this berth-Marseilles London. Note (October 3), Miyaz ki Maru (Oata b-r 3). Kiss Mira (October 17); London Glasgow, City of Hookow (October 2); London, Laomedon (October4), Merioneth shire (Ooober 12), Rhesus (Onta ber 13); Genoa, London, Hall, Gleniffer (October 16).
