Japanese Exports to Russia. One of the most notable effects. of the present war on Japan and Lands, Hotels and Balldings. the Japanese is perhaps the as Anglo French Lands.... tounding progress made in the ex-H'kong Hotel Co., Ld. port trade with Rareia, says the Japanese Mail particularly during the first five months of the year the progress achieved was grome- tric rather than arithmetic. The total figure stood at Y. 3,450,000 in January, but at the end of May the month's figure was estimanted at Y. 6,210,000. Again in com- parison with the preceding years the real magnitude of the progress now being achieved may be fully realized. Ta 1012 the year's result of trade was only Y 2,610,000. When the figure was brought up to Y. 4,900,000 in 1913 the public was surprised at the striking progress. The pre- sent year's figure already comes up to Y. 28,240,000 in round figures. The main part of the trade is in war materiale, woollen piece goods and Berges, alpes and toits, cop- per, aluminium, iron goods, raw Bilk, and other articles in par- tionlar. The import trade on the other hand takes quite a contrary The total gure for Januszy was at a point of Y.060.- 000, though it was a grave de- crease as compared with the same time last year, but five months later at the end of May last it was reduced as low as Y.130,000. It must be attributed to the whole. hearted way of making war on the part of Rassin that her export trade has witnessed so striking a falling-off in the figures. There fore, there will be no hope for Rassis to revive her trade while 3. C. Morning Post the present
war continues,
·OOUTBE.
In some sections of the business community it is held as open to question whether the expanding trade can be retained after war, in the hands of the Japanese, in view of an attempt in America to finance Russia, and encourage the trade between the two countries on ole band, and the development of Archangel, e port on the White Ses. Those two points must, in deed, be seriously considered and provided against by the Japanese business man as affecting the position of Japanese industrial workers as suppliera to Russia, but still part of Y 600,000,000 worth of German goods formerly supplied at least can be supplant- ed, if the Japanase be alert enough to take advantage of the after effects of the war, the Russian batred against the Germans, and also under the requirements of the RussiaADO,
